The fact that the "Eumenical" Patriarch and the Greeks are sponsoring this gathering immediately sets off all sorts of bells and whistles for me. I think that the "E"P and the Greeks would like nothing better than to have an administratively unified Church is America UNDER, I repeat UNDER, the "E"P and the Greeks. I don;t see that either of them would ever "share" the oversight of the Church in America with any other of the inferior "Hoi poloi". It always seems to me that the "E"P wants to be an Eastern "Pope", an Orthodox "Pontif" and lord it over all the other Orthodox Churches.
